Week 3 - Day 5 - Favorite Main Male Character in No Order

Natsu Dragneel - Fairy Tail

He's the right blend of serious, comedic, and idiotic. Haven't caught up to the show yet, but having a character with complete raw strength while being just as kind-hearted is fairly rare. He cares deeply about his comrades and will literally do anything to help them (maybe even travel).

Week 3 - Day 4 - Favorite Main Male Character in No Order

Kyon from The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi

Kyon is the personification of 'be careful of what you wish for.'

He wanted to be a part of something larger. He wanted to believe in aliens, espers, and time travelers. He wanted the world to be more than what it was. So, naturally, Suzumiya Haruhi took an interest in him and, from what he tells us, ruined his life.

source

I think my favorite thing about Kyon is how much he tries to show that he has complete apathy. He wants others to believe that he wants nothing to do with Haruhi, despite how much he tried to initially get involved with her, how much he actually does for the SOS Brigade, and how violent his objections to her reality are.

I mean, look how hard he is trying here:

He lets himself get swept up in Haruhi's pace and enjoys it. He's sarcastic as hell as a means to not get caught up in her world but at the end of the day, doesn't really care. He's wonderfully relatable and never ceases to amuse.

Week 3 - Day 3 - Favorite Main Male Character in No Order

Araragi Koyomi from Monogatari Series (Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari)

So he's kind of a jerk and fairly perverted with a troublesome sense of humor. What makes Araragi Koyomi one of my favorite characters is that he is well thought out; I love every character from the Monogatari Series for this.

He exhibits a good deal of sexual harassment that he eventually learns from (thankfully).

source

He has the disposition to try to save everyone. Being partially a vampire helps but that rarely is why he is able to. His capability to hold grandiose conversations that trail on to no end are amazingly interesting and he usually tries to throw beliefs at his antagonists before actually getting into a fight with them. And although his character placement in the story is that of the prince that saves the girls, he is rarely able to; he usually requires help from someone else to do any saving or is usually the one being saved. In most cases, and fitting with the theme of the show, he is only there to help. He can't actually save anyone. They have to save themselves while he is usually the one getting help in the end.

source

source

But I think that one of my favorite pars of him is that he doesn't want to be the main character. Unlike Kyon from The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, Koyomi rarely makes things about himself but when he does, he is as selfish as possible. He is a relatable character that actually has flaws and has his flaws pointed out. They aren't held up as a positive trait.

source

And he talks. A lot. The entire show is mostly dialogue that usually includes him. He is a wonderfully stupid character that just wants to uphold his ideals and has been thrust into a show as the main character.

Week 3 - Day 2 - Favorite Main Male Character in No Order

Edward Elric

He just wants to have a family. Edward Elric is one of my favorite male main characters for so many reasons.

He truly wants to make the world a better place. He is so full of flaws but just wants to improve upon other's lives. The Elric brothers don't just travel to find the stone. That's their destination. But their on their journey all they do is help out everyone they can find.

Vic Mignogna is a wonderful voice actor and I am so happy that they got him to do Brotherhood (as well as all of the other returning characters).

His character is wonderfully thought out.

And the show constantly reminds you that he is just a very brilliant kid that is broken in so many ways but is still extremely capable.

Edward cares so much and loves so much about people that he doesn't even know and will fight for everyone while shouting his values at the enemy and more than likely laughing at how something went wrong while trying not to die. Edward Elric is a wonderful character who is an important part in my life and how I perceive the world.
