What to say other than watch it. If you like mystery, psychological thrillers, or just something very, very different, this one is for you.

Humanity is trapped within 50 meter high walls that protect them from the Titans, oversized toddlers that eat humans. It sounds crazy and it is. The titans are hard to take seriously even though they are terrifying as hell.

The story follows three kids, Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert surviving a breach in the wall in their hometown. After a few years they join the cadets and use a 3D maneuvering gear to fight the titans using giant blades to kill them:





The characters are all extremely unique, coming from different backgrounds. They all have a purpose and  the show does a great job exploring the different motivations behind the characters. The majority of the show takes place within a military setting with three different divisions: The Scouting Legion, The Military Police, and The Garrison.

Since the show holds a lot of mystery, it is difficult to talk about without spoilers. What I can say is that the animation is gorgeous. Something very unique is the use of outlining:




It's been a while since I've seen a show that has looked so good. I know that animation has gotten better overall, but this shows gives so much more.


And if you love openings and openings that match the show then you're gold.

I'm on my second run-through and it's even better. I really do suggest this if you need something new. I've never watched anything like it and it never loses it's crazy intensity. The only downside is that it only has one season right now. The manga is still running so if you want to keep going, there is always that. But for right now, Attack on Titan is on hiatus with a second season coming after the live action movie.
